About Rabbi David Magazine Malamud
Rabbi David Magazine Malamud serves as the rabbi of Congregation Beth Israel and Temple Emanuel at Beit Shalom.
He brings a love of Jewish learning, a thoughtful approach to teaching, and a genuine warmth that helps people feel welcomed and included. He enjoys bringing people together to learn, ask questions, celebrate traditions, and build meaningful relationships.
Originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland, Rabbi David grew up at Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation, where he developed a lifelong love of Judaism. While pursuing doctoral studies at Boston University, he discovered a calling to the rabbinate and received semicha (rabbinic ordination) from Hebrew College in May 2026. His training included advanced Talmud study in Israel and service in congregations throughout Massachusetts and New York.
Outside the synagogue, Rabbi David and his wife, Rebecca, are raising their three children, twin sons Ben and Ari and their daughter, Leah, along with their beloved dog, Lilah. He enjoys gardening, cooking elaborate (and occasionally disastrous) meals, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
At Beit Shalom, Rabbi David is committed to creating a place where people of all ages can learn, celebrate, ask questions, and build meaningful relationships rooted in Jewish tradition.
